Xperia Tablet S is a little bit better than Acer Iconia A1, having a overall score of 58.9 against 55.4. Both tablets in this review use Android operating system, but Xperia Tablet S has the newer 4.1.1 version while Acer Iconia A1 has Android 4.1 version. Although it's the best tablet in this comparison review, the Xperia Tablet S construction is older, just a bit thicker and heavier than Acer Iconia A1.
Acer Iconia A1 features a little sharper screen than Xperia Tablet S, because although it has a quite lower 768 x 1024 resolution and a bit smaller display, it also counts with a little more pixels per inch of screen. The Xperia Tablet S features much more memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Acer Iconia A1, because it has a SD extension slot that admits a maximum of 128 GB and 64 GB internal storage capacity.
The Xperia Tablet S has a bit more powerful processing unit than Acer Iconia A1, and although they both have a 1 GB RAM memory and 4 cpu cores, the Xperia Tablet S also has a much better graphics processing unit. Acer Iconia A1 shoots better videos and photos than Sony Xperia Tablet S, although it has a way lower resolution camera in the back.
Acer Iconia A1 has a much longer battery lifetime than Xperia Tablet S.
Although Xperia Tablet S is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Acer Iconia A1, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Acer Iconia A1. So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy the Xperia Tablet S, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Acer Iconia A1, giving up a couple specs and features.
