The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a lot better than Acer Iconia A3, getting a 67.9 score against 55.2. Both devices in this review use Android OS, but Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a newer 4.4 version and Acer Iconia A3 has Android 4.2 version, giving you some extra features.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a little faster CPU than Acer Iconia A3, because although it has doesn't have a graphics processor, and they both have a Quad-Core CPU, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also counts with a higher amount of RAM memory. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a better looking screen than Acer Iconia A3, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a way higher display pixels density and a much higher resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a lot bigger memory for applications and games than Acer Iconia A3, because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with more internal storage. The Acer Iconia A3 has a much longer battery life than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 shoots better photos and videos than Acer Iconia A3, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition and the same video frame rate, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also has a lot higher 8 mega-pixels resolution back facing camera.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 costs a lot more money than Acer Iconia A3, but you can get a much better tablet for that few extra dollars.
