Comparison review
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has a score of 72.2, which is much better than Acer Iconia A3's overall score of 55.2. Even though the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and the Acer Iconia A3 were released only a couple months apart, Microsoft Surface Pro 3's body is heavier but also somewhat thinner than the Acer Iconia A3. The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 comes with Windows 8.1 Pro operating system, while Acer Iconia A3 comes with Android 4.2 operating system.
The Acer Iconia A3 features a bit better screen than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, although it has way lesser pixels per screen inch, a quite smaller display and a lot worse resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 counts with a little faster processing unit than Acer Iconia A3, because although it has a lower number of cores and doesn't have a GPU, it also counts with 7 GB more RAM.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 features a much greater memory capacity for games and applications than Acer Iconia A3, because although it has no SD extension slot, it also counts with 512 GB internal storage capacity. Acer Iconia A3 has a very superior battery performance than Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 features a little bit better camera than Acer Iconia A3. Both of them have the same resolution back facing camera, the same video frame rate and the same video quality.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 costs a lot more than Acer Iconia A3, but it's still a good choice, as you can get a much better tablet for that extra money.
