Sony Tablet S has a general score of 57.5, which is a bit better than the Acer Iconia A3's 55.2 overall score. Both tablets in this review work with Android operating system, but the Sony Tablet S has an older 4.0 version while Acer Iconia A3 has Android 4.2 version. Sony Tablet S's design has the same thickness than the Acer Iconia A3, but it is just a little bit heavier.
The Acer Iconia A3 counts with a better display than Sony Tablet S, because although it has a bit lower pixels amount in each screen inch, and they both have the same exact resolution of 800 x 1280px, the Acer Iconia A3 also counts with a little bit larger display. Sony Tablet S has a much better memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Acer Iconia A3, and although they both have a slot for an external memory card that admits up to 32 GB, the Sony Tablet S also has 16 GB more internal memory.
The Acer Iconia A3 has a bit better processor than Sony Tablet S, and although they both have 1 GB of RAM memory, the Acer Iconia A3 also has an additional graphics processing unit and a larger number of cores. The Sony Tablet S has a really longer battery lifetime than Acer Iconia A3, because it has 5000mAh of battery capacity instead of 3540mAh.
Sony Tablet S has a better camera than Acer Iconia A3. Both have the same video frame rate, a same resolution camera in the back and the same 1280x720 (HD) video resolution.
Although Sony Tablet S is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Acer Iconia A3, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Acer Iconia A3. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can buy Acer Iconia A3, giving up some specs and features, but you will get the most with your budget.
