Amazon Fire HD 8 has a general score of 54.1, which is better than Amazon Kindle Fire HD (2013)'s 47.9 global score. Amazon Fire HD 8's body is notably newer, extremely thinner and just a little bit lighter than Amazon Kindle Fire HD (2013). These tablets use Android OS (Operating System), but the Amazon Fire HD 8 has the newer 5.0 Lollipop version while Amazon Kindle Fire HD (2013) has Android 4.2.2, providing some additional features and increased performance.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 features a little better processing power than Amazon Kindle Fire HD (2013), and although they both have a 1 GB RAM, the Amazon Fire HD 8 also has 2 more CPU cores.
