Both tablets in this review work with Android OS, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 has a newer 9.0 Pie version while Amazon Fire HD 8 has Android 5.0 Lollipop version. Even though Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is a lot newer than the Amazon Fire HD 8, it is way heavier and just a little thicker.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 counts with a little bit better looking display than Amazon Fire HD 8, because it has a lot higher resolution of 1200 x 1920px, a bit greater count of pixels per inch in the display and a way bigger display. Galaxy Tab A 10.5 has a much bigger memory to install games and applications than Amazon Fire HD 8, because it has a slot for external memory cards that admits a maximum of 400 GB and 32 GB internal storage.
Galaxy Tab A 10.5 features a bit better performance than Amazon Fire HD 8, because it has a greater amount of RAM memory and a larger number of cores. The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 features a really longer battery lifetime than Amazon Fire HD 8. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 shoots much better photographs and videos than Amazon Fire HD 8, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 video definition and the same video frame rate, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 also has a lot better resolution back-facing camera.
The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 costs a lot more money than Amazon Fire HD 8, but you can get a much better tablet for that few more dollars.
