The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is much better than Amazon Fire HD 8, getting a 60.5 score against 54.1. Both of these tablets use Android OS, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has 7.1 Nougat version and Amazon Fire HD 8 has Android 5.0 Lollipop, giving you a lot of extra features and increased performance. Even though the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and the Amazon Fire HD 8 were only released 5 months apart, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 design is just a bit thinner but way heavier than the Amazon Fire HD 8.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 features a bit better CPU than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, although it has 512 MB less RAM, they both have the same number of cores. Amazon Fire HD 8 features a better screen than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a little bit smaller screen, it also counts with a bit higher resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels and a better display density.
