The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a global score of 67.9, which is just a bit better than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation's 62.7 global score. Although Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is notably newer than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, it is thicker and extremely heavier. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with Android 4.4 OS, and Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation comes with iOS 7.x OS.

Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a little sharper screen than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, because it has a way larger display, a bit more pixels per display inch and a lot higher resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a quite better hardware performance than iPod Touch 5th Generation, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics co-processor, it also counts with more cpu cores and a larger amount of RAM.

IPod Touch 5th Generation's storage for games and applications is just as good as Amazon Fire HDX 8.9's one, both of them have the same 64 GB internal memory. The iPod Touch 5th Generation counts with a superior battery performance than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get the iPod Touch 5th Generation, and give up a couple features, but you will get the most with your savings.
