Both devices in this review have Android OS (Operating System), but Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a newer 4.4 version while Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE has Android 4.0, giving a couple additional features and optimized performance. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a a lot newer device, and it's also lighter and somewhat thinner than the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a much more vibrant screen than Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE, and although they both have a screen with the same size, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also has a much greater display density and a much better resolution of 1600 x 2560px. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a superior storage capacity to store more apps and games than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE, because it has 64 GB internal storage capacity.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a better hardware performance than Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE, because it has a larger number of cores. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE features a very superior battery performance than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 takes a lot better photographs and videos than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE, because it has a back facing camera with a lot higher resolution and a much higher 1920x1080 video quality.
