The Microsoft Surface 2 is slightly better than the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, having a overall score of 63.4 against 60.8. The Microsoft Surface 2 is a notably heavier tablet device than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, but both are equally thin. Microsoft Surface 2 counts with Windows RT 8.1 OS, and Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 works with Android 4.2.2 OS.
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 features a bit better processing unit than Microsoft Surface 2, and although they both have the same number of cores and the same RAM amount, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 also has an additional graphics processing unit. Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 has a way better screen than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has a way smaller screen, it also counts with a slightly higher 1200 x 1920 resolution and a much higher screen density.
Microsoft Surface 2's memory for games and applications is just as good as Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7's one, they have exactly the same 64 GB internal storage capacity. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can buy the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, giving up some specs and features, but you will get the most out of your budget.
