Although the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 is older and thicker than the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, it's construction is still a lot lighter. Both devices we are comparing here use Android OS (operating system), but the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 has the previous 4.2.2 version and Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has Android 7.1 Nougat.
