Apple iPad mini 3 is better than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, getting a 77.5 score against 68.5. The Apple iPad mini 3 comes with iOS 8.x operating system, while Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 works with Android 4.2.2 operating system. The Apple iPad mini 3 is a newer portable tablet, and it is also lighter and just a little thinner than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
IPad mini 3's processor is just as good as the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 one, because although the iPad mini 3 has 1 GB lesser RAM memory and less and slower cpu cores, it also counts with a 64-bits processor and a much better 600 MHz graphics processor. The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a bit better display than iPad mini 3, because it has a little bit larger screen, a slightly higher resolution of 1600 x 2560px and a little bit greater pixel amount in each display inch.
IPad mini 3 captures much clearer photos and videos than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, although it has a camera with lot less mega pixels resolution and a smaller camera aperture which is not so good for shooting pictures in low light environments. IPad mini 3 has a way bigger storage to store more games and applications than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, because it has more internal storage capacity.
