Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a general score of 68.5, which is much better than the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)'s 61.4 general score. Both of these tablets have Android operating system, but Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a newer 4.2.2 version while Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has Android 4.1, so it gives a couple nice extra features and performance enhancements. The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is a newer portable tablet, and it's also somewhat thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1).
The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has an incredibly better looking display than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a lot higher 1600 x 2560 resolution and a way better display pixel density. Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has an extremely better CPU than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has a higher number of faster cores, an additional GPU and a larger amount of RAM memory.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a much bigger memory capacity for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because although it has no slot for an SD memory card, it also counts with 56 GB more internal storage capacity. Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has a very superior battery performance than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 takes just a bit better photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has a much higher resolution back-facing camera.
