IPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) is better than the Apple iPad 3, with a general score of 81.1 against 71.1. IPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) is a noticeably newer tablet, and it's also a little bit lighter and much thinner than the Apple iPad 3. The Apple iPad 3 has a little bit better screen than Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018), although it has a lot smaller display, a little bit lower pixels amount per screen inch and a much lower resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels.
The Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) has a very superior processor than Apple iPad 3, because it has more RAM memory and a greater number of cores (and faster). IPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) features a lot better camera than iPad 3, because it has a way bigger aperture for better low-light captures, a camera in the back with much more mega pixels and a way better 3840x2160 video quality.
IPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) has as much storage for applications and games as the Apple iPad 3 one, they have exactly the same 64 GB internal storage capacity. IPad 3 counts with greater battery lifetime than iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018), because it has a 19% more battery capacity.
Although iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the iPad 3, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as iPad 3. If you are trying to save some money, you can get the iPad 3, and give up a few features and specs, but you'll get the most with your budget.
