Apple iPad 4's construction is just a little thicker but a bit lighter than Microsoft Surface 2. The Apple iPad 4 has iOS 7.x OS, and Microsoft Surface 2 comes with Windows RT 8.1 OS. Microsoft Surface 2 features a bit better hardware performance than iPad 4, because although it has doesn't have an additional GPU, it also counts with a larger amount of RAM memory and a greater number of cores (and faster).
Apple iPad 4 features a better looking screen than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a greater number of pixels per inch of display and a higher 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution.
