The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a global score of 82.4, which is much better than iPad 4's general score of 70.8. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is a heavier but somewhat thinner tablet than iPad 4. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) comes with Windows 10 Pro operating system, and iPad 4 works with iOS 7.x operating system.
The iPad 4 has a better looking display than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), although it has a lot worse 1536 x 2048 resolution, a quite inferior count of pixels per display inch and a way smaller screen. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has just a bit better performance than Apple iPad 4, because although it has doesn't have an additional graphics processor, and they both have 2 cpu cores, the Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) also counts with a greater amount of RAM.
Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has much more memory capacity to store more games and applications than Apple iPad 4, because it has 1000 GB internal memory capacity. The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a battery life that's very similar to the battery lifetime in iPad 4. IPad 4 captures way better pictures and videos than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), although it has a much less mega-pixels resolution back facing camera and a lower (Full HD) video quality.
Although Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is a better device, it costs a lot more than Apple iPad 4, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Apple iPad 4. If you want to save some dollars, you can get Apple iPad 4, and give up some specs and features, but you will get the most out of your budget.
