Comparison review
The iPad 4 is slightly better than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, getting a general score of 68.4 against 65.1. The iPad 4 counts with iOS 7.x OS, and Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 works with Android 4.4 OS. Despite being the best we compare here, iPad 4 is a somewhat thicker and notably heavier portable tablet than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a bit sharper screen than Apple iPad 4, because although it has a little smaller display, it also counts with a quite better resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels and a better pixel number in each inch in the display. The Apple iPad 4 has a much better memory capacity for games and applications than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, because it has more internal memory.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a little better processing power than Apple iPad 4, because although it has doesn't have an additional GPU, it also counts with 1 GB more RAM and more processing cores. The Apple iPad 4 takes much clearer photographs and videos than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, although it has a lower (Full HD) video definition, a camera with lot less mega pixels resolution and a tinier aperture which is not recommended for low-light captures.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a battery duration that's just as good as the battery life in Apple iPad 4.
IPad 4 costs a little more than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, but it's still a good choice, as you can get a much better tablet for that extra money.
