The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a score of 82.4, which is slightly better than Apple iPad Air 2's overall score of 79.3. Even though Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is a lot newer than Apple iPad Air 2, it is way thicker and extremely heavier. The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) works with Windows 10 Pro OS, while Apple iPad Air 2 has iOS 8.x OS.
The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a bit more powerful processor than Apple iPad Air 2, because although it has a 32 bits CPU instead of 64-bits, it also counts with a higher number of cores and a larger amount of RAM. The iPad Air 2 has a better screen than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), although it has a lot worse 2048 x 1536px resolution, a way smaller display and a little bit inferior pixels count in each display inch.
The Apple iPad Air 2 shoots way better photos and videos than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017). Both have the same (Full HD) video quality, the same resolution back-facing camera and the same video frame rate. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a very superior storage capacity for games and applications than iPad Air 2, because it has 872 GB more internal storage capacity.

So if you need that extra features, you can buy Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the iPad Air 2, giving up a couple features and specifications.
