The iPad Air 2 has a general score of 79.3, which is a little bit better than the Galaxy Tab S 8.4's 74.5 global score. Even though iPad Air 2 and the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 were released only 4 months apart, iPad Air 2's design is much heavier but also a little thinner than the Galaxy Tab S 8.4. IPad Air 2 works with iOS 8.x OS, and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 comes with Android 4.4.2 OS.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4's CPU is just as good as the iPad Air 2 one, because although the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has a 32 bits processor instead of 64-bits, it also counts with 7 more CPU cores and 1 GB more RAM. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 features a bit sharper display than iPad Air 2, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a higher pixels quantity per display inch and a bit higher 2560 x 1600px resolution.
The iPad Air 2 has a much greater memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, because although it has no external memory slot, it also counts with 96 GB more internal storage. Apple iPad Air 2 captures better photographs and videos than Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. Both of them have a 8 MP camera in the back, the same 1920x1080 video quality and the same video frame rate.
The iPad Air 2 features a way better battery duration than Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, because it has 7340mAh of battery capacity against 4900mAh.
Although iPad Air 2 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Galaxy Tab S 8.4, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy Tab S 8.4. If you are trying to save some money, you can get the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, letting go some specs and features, but you'll get the most out of your savings.
