IPad Air (2020) has a general score of 71.7, which is slightly better than the Apple iPad 3's 71.1 global score. IPad Air (2020)'s design is much newer, much thinner and extremely lighter than Apple iPad 3. IPad Air (2020) works with iPadOS 14.x OS, while Apple iPad 3 has iOS 6.1 OS. The iPad 3 has a little more vivid display than Apple iPad Air (2020), although it has a little lower 1536 x 2048px resolution and a quite smaller screen, they both have a better pixel count in each display inch.
IPad Air (2020) and Apple iPad 3 feature incredibly similar storage capacity to install applications and games, both have equal 64 GB internal storage. The Apple iPad Air (2020) has a very superior performance than Apple iPad 3, because it has 4 more cpu cores and a 64-bit processing unit. The iPad Air (2020) features a lot better camera than Apple iPad 3, because it has a way larger aperture, a back facing camera with much more mega-pixels and a lot better 3840x2160 video definition.
IPad 3 features a very superior battery life than iPad Air (2020).
Although iPad Air (2020) is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Apple iPad 3, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Apple iPad 3. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can get the Apple iPad 3, giving up a few specs and features, but you'll get the most out of your savings.
