IPad Air (2020) has a general score of 71.7, which is much better than the Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation's 62.7 global score. The iPad Air (2020) counts with iPadOS 14.x OS, and Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation has iOS 7.x OS. The iPad Air (2020) construction has the same thickness than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, but it is extremely heavier.
IPod Touch 5th Generation features a bit more vivid screen than Apple iPad Air (2020), because although it has a way worse 1136 x 640 pixels resolution and a much smaller display, it also counts with a just a little more pixels per inch in the display. The Apple iPad Air (2020) has a much better processing power than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics processing unit, it also counts with 4 more processing cores and a 64 bits CPU.
The iPod Touch 5th Generation and Apple iPad Air (2020) both count with similar storage capacity to install applications and games, both have exactly the same internal storage capacity. IPod Touch 5th Generation features a way better battery duration than iPad Air (2020). The iPad Air (2020) takes way better photos and videos than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, because it has a way larger diafragm aperture, a much better resolution back facing camera and a lot better video definition.
Although iPad Air (2020) is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation. If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy the Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, letting go a couple features and specs, but you will get the most out of your budget.
