IPad mini 2 is just a bit better than the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, with a 77.2 score against 74.5. Even though iPad mini 2 is better than Galaxy Tab S 8.4, it must be noted that it is also thicker and somewhat heavier. The iPad mini 2 comes with iOS 8.x OS, while Galaxy Tab S 8.4 comes with Android 4.4.2 OS.
Apple iPad mini 2 features a little bit better processing power than Galaxy Tab S 8.4, because although it has 6 less and slower processing cores and a lower amount of RAM, it also counts with a 64-bits processor and a GPU. Galaxy Tab S 8.4 counts with a bit sharper screen than iPad mini 2, because it has a just a bit higher screen pixels density, a slightly higher resolution of 2560 x 1600px and a little larger display.
The Apple iPad mini 2 features a much bigger memory capacity to install games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, because although it has no external memory slot, it also counts with 128 GB internal storage.
