The iPad mini 3 is much better than the Microsoft Surface Pro, getting a global score of 77.5 against 63.2. IPad mini 3 is a noticeably newer tablet device, and it is also lighter and way thinner than Microsoft Surface Pro. The iPad mini 3 counts with iOS 8.x OS, while Microsoft Surface Pro has Windows 8 Pro OS.
The Apple iPad mini 3 features a sharper screen than Microsoft Surface Pro, because although it has a way smaller display, it also counts with a better resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and a lot higher pixels density. The Microsoft Surface Pro features as much memory to store more games and applications as Apple iPad mini 3, they have equal 128 GB internal memory capacity.
