Comparison review

The Microsoft Surface 2 is much better than the Asus VivoTab 8, having a global score of 63.4 against 55.6. Both devices in this comparison include Windows OS (operating system), but Microsoft Surface 2 has a newer RT 8.1 version while Asus VivoTab 8 has Windows 8.1. Microsoft Surface 2 is a noticeably heavier device than Asus VivoTab 8, but both of them are 0.35inches thick.

The Asus VivoTab 8 has a bit more vivid screen than Microsoft Surface 2, although it has a much smaller display, a way worse 1280 x 800px resolution and a little bit lower pixel density. The Microsoft Surface 2 has a slightly bigger storage capacity for applications and games than Asus VivoTab 8, because although it has no slot for external memory cards, it also counts with more internal memory.

Asus VivoTab 8 counts with just a bit better processing power than Microsoft Surface 2. Both of them have 4 CPU cores and 2 GB of RAM memory. The Microsoft Surface 2 features a better camera than Asus VivoTab 8, because it has a lot more mega pixels back facing camera. Microsoft Surface 2's battery life is just as good as Asus VivoTab 8's battery life.

Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Asus VivoTab 8, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Asus VivoTab 8. So if you want that extra features, you can buy Microsoft Surface 2, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Asus VivoTab 8, resigning some features and specs.
