The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a general score of 58.1, which is slightly better than the Asus VivoTab 8's 55.6 score. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 design is a bit thinner but way heavier than the Asus VivoTab 8. Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes with Android 4.0.4 OS, while Asus VivoTab 8 counts with Windows 8.1 OS. The Asus VivoTab 8 has a little sharper screen than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, because although it has a way smaller screen, and they both have the same 1280 x 800 resolution, the Asus VivoTab 8 also counts with a higher number of pixels per inch of screen.

The Asus VivoTab 8 has much more storage capacity for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and although they both have the same internal storage, the Asus VivoTab 8 also has a slot for SD memory cards that holds a maximum of 64 GB. Asus VivoTab 8 counts with a better performing processor than Galaxy Tab 10.1, because it has 2 more cores.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 captures a lot better pictures and videos than Asus VivoTab 8, because it has a way higher 3 MP resolution back camera. Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a very superior battery life than Asus VivoTab 8.

Although Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Asus VivoTab 8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Asus VivoTab 8. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get Asus VivoTab 8, giving up a few specs and features, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
