Comparison review

Microsoft Surface 2 is better than the Asus VivoTab Note 8, getting a 63.4 score against 57.5. Both devices we are comparing have Windows operating system, but Microsoft Surface 2 has a more recent RT 8.1 version and Asus VivoTab Note 8 has Windows 8.1. Microsoft Surface 2 is a thinner but a lot heavier portable tablet than Asus VivoTab Note 8.

The Asus VivoTab Note 8 features a slightly better looking display than Microsoft Surface 2, although it has a way smaller display, a way worse 1280 x 800 resolution and a little bit inferior pixels amount in each inch of display. The Asus VivoTab Note 8 has a bit better performance than Microsoft Surface 2. Both have the same RAM memory amount and the same number of cores.

The Microsoft Surface 2 has a bit better camera than Asus VivoTab Note 8. Both of them have a 5 MP camera in the back. The Microsoft Surface 2's storage capacity to install games and applications is very similar to the Asus VivoTab Note 8 one, and although the Microsoft Surface 2 has no SD extension slot, they both have exactly the same 64 GB internal storage capacity.

Microsoft Surface 2's battery lifetime is just as good as Asus VivoTab Note 8's battery performance.

Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Asus VivoTab Note 8, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Asus VivoTab Note 8. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy Microsoft Surface 2, else you can save some dollars and get the Asus VivoTab Note 8, resigning a couple features and specs.
