The Microsoft Surface 2 is just a bit better than the Asus VivoTab RT, having a 63.4 score against 61. Both tablets in this review have Windows OS (Operating System), but the Microsoft Surface 2 has a newer RT 8.1 version and Asus VivoTab RT has Windows RT version, giving a couple nice extra features and improved performance. Microsoft Surface 2's construction is newer, but just a little thicker and heavier than the Asus VivoTab RT.
The Microsoft Surface 2 features a little more vivid screen than Asus VivoTab RT, because it has a greater display density, a higher 1080 x 1920 resolution and a little larger display. The Microsoft Surface 2 counts with a bit faster processing unit than Asus VivoTab RT. Both of them have 2 GB of RAM and the same number of cores.
The Asus VivoTab RT and the Microsoft Surface 2 count with very similar storage capacity to install games and applications, and although the Microsoft Surface 2 has no SD card slot, they both have equal internal memory capacity. The Asus VivoTab RT shoots greater videos and photos than Microsoft Surface 2, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same 1920x1080 video quality, the Asus VivoTab RT also has a lot better 8 megapixels resolution back facing camera.
Asus VivoTab RT and Microsoft Surface 2 count with quite similar battery performance.
Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Asus VivoTab RT, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Asus VivoTab RT. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy the Microsoft Surface 2, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Asus VivoTab RT, letting go some specifications.
