Comparison review
The Microsoft Surface 3 is much better than Google Nexus 7, having a score of 66.3 against 59.3. Microsoft Surface 3's design is notably newer and somewhat thinner, but also much heavier than the Google Nexus 7. Microsoft Surface 3 features a bit faster processing unit than Google Nexus 7, because although it has doesn't have an additional GPU, and they both have 4 cpu cores, the Microsoft Surface 3 also counts with a greater amount of RAM memory.
The Google Nexus 7 features a sharper screen than Microsoft Surface 3, because although it has a lot worse resolution of 800 x 1280 and a much smaller display, it also counts with a quite better display density. Microsoft Surface 3 counts with a very superior storage capacity to install games and applications than Google Nexus 7, because it has 128 GB internal storage.
Google Nexus 7 has a way better battery performance than Microsoft Surface 3. Microsoft Surface 3 features a very superior camera than Google Nexus 7.
Although Microsoft Surface 3 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Google Nexus 7, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Google Nexus 7. If you prefer to save some money, you can get the Google Nexus 7, giving up some specs and features, but you will get the most with your money.
