Both of these tablets use Android OS (Operating System), but Xperia Tablet S has the older 4.1.1 version and Lenovo S5000 has Android 4.2. The Lenovo S5000 features a much better screen than Xperia Tablet S, because although it has a really smaller display, and they both have exactly the same resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels, the Lenovo S5000 also counts with a greater pixels count per inch in the screen. Sony Xperia Tablet S has just a bit better hardware performance than Lenovo S5000, and although they both have 1 GB of RAM and a Quad-Core processor, the Sony Xperia Tablet S also has a much better 416 MHz graphics processing unit.

Although Xperia Tablet S is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Lenovo S5000, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Lenovo S5000. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get Lenovo S5000, and give up a few specs and features, but you'll get the most with your money.
