Comparison review

The Microsoft Surface 2 is better than the HP ElitePad 1000, having a score of 61.8 against 52. Both tablets in this comparison review come with Windows operating system, but the Microsoft Surface 2 has a newer RT 8.1 version while HP ElitePad 1000 has Windows 8.1 version, giving you a couple additional features. Microsoft Surface 2 is a just a little thinner and a little bit lighter tablet than the HP ElitePad 1000, even when they were released only a couple of months apart.

The Microsoft Surface 2 has a much better performing processing unit than HP ElitePad 1000, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM, it also counts with a larger number of cores. The Microsoft Surface 2 features a sharper display than HP ElitePad 1000, because although it has a just a bit worse screen density and a little bit lower 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution, it also counts with a little bit bigger screen.

The HP ElitePad 1000 has a much better storage capacity for games and applications than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has no slot for an SD memory card, it also counts with 96 GB more internal storage capacity. Microsoft Surface 2 and HP ElitePad 1000 both feature extremely similar battery durations.

HP ElitePad 1000 captures clearer photographs and videos than Microsoft Surface 2, and although they both have the same (Full HD) video quality and the same video frame rate, the HP ElitePad 1000 also has a lot higher resolution back-facing camera.

Microsoft Surface 2 costs a little more than HP ElitePad 1000, but you can get a better tablet for that extra money.
