Comparison review
The Microsoft Surface 2 is a little bit better than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, getting a 63.4 score against 60.8. The Microsoft Surface 2 construction has the same thickness than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, but it is notably heavier. The Microsoft Surface 2 comes with Windows RT 8.1 OS, and Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 comes with Android 4.2.2 OS.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 has a lot better looking screen than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has a much smaller screen, it also counts with a little bit higher resolution of 1200 x 1920 and a lot higher pixel amount per screen inch. Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7's storage for apps and games is very similar to the Microsoft Surface 2 one, and although the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 has no SD memory slot, they both have the same 64 GB internal memory capacity.
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 has a bit better CPU than Microsoft Surface 2, and although they both have the same number of cores and the same RAM memory amount, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 also has a GPU. Microsoft Surface 2 captures way better photographs and videos than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7. The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 has a battery lifetime that is just as good as Microsoft Surface 2's battery lifetime.
Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7. If you want to save some money, you can get Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, letting go a few features and specs, but you'll get the most with your money.
