IPad 4 has a score of 70.8, which is better than the Microsoft Surface 2's 63.4 score. IPad 4's construction is a bit thicker but just a little bit lighter than Microsoft Surface 2. IPad 4 comes with iOS 7.x OS, while Microsoft Surface 2 works with Windows RT 8.1 OS. IPad 4 counts with a much better screen than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has a quite smaller screen, it also counts with a better number of pixels per screen inch and a higher resolution of 1536 x 2048px.
IPad 4 features much more memory to install games and applications than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has no slot for an external memory card, it also counts with 128 GB internal memory capacity. The Microsoft Surface 2 features just a bit better performance than iPad 4, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics co-processor, it also counts with more CPU cores and a greater amount of RAM memory.
The iPad 4 has a battery performance that is very similar to Microsoft Surface 2's battery performance. IPad 4 captures greater photographs and videos than Microsoft Surface 2. Both of them have the same (Full HD) video quality, a 5 mega pixels back-facing camera and the same video frame rates.
Apple iPad 4 is more expensive than the Microsoft Surface 2, but you can get a better tablet for that extra dollars.
