Although the Microsoft Surface 2 is newer than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, it's extremely heavier and extremely thicker. The iPod Touch 5th Generation features a sharper screen than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has a much smaller display and a way lower 1136 x 640 resolution, it also counts with a lot greater screen pixel density. The Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation counts with a much better battery duration than Microsoft Surface 2.
Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy the Microsoft Surface 2, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, resigning some specifications.
