The Microsoft Surface 2 is just a bit better than the Asus VivoTab Smart, getting a 63.4 score against 58.7. These devices come with Windows OS (Operating System), but the Microsoft Surface 2 has a more recent RT 8.1 version while Asus VivoTab Smart has Windows 8 version, so it gives you a lot of extra features and performance improvements. Microsoft Surface 2's construction is heavier but a little bit thinner than the Asus VivoTab Smart.
The Microsoft Surface 2 counts with just a bit better looking screen than Asus VivoTab Smart, because it has a higher 1080 x 1920 resolution, a greater pixels density and a little bigger screen. Asus VivoTab Smart features just a little better processing power than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has 2 less processing cores (although faster), and they both have the same RAM memory amount, the Asus VivoTab Smart also counts with an extra graphics processor.
Asus VivoTab Smart counts with a very superior camera than Microsoft Surface 2, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video resolution and the same video frame rate, the Asus VivoTab Smart also has a much better resolution camera in the back. Asus VivoTab Smart's storage capacity to install applications and games is very similar to the Microsoft Surface 2 one, and although the Asus VivoTab Smart has no slot for external memory cards, they both have exactly the same 64 GB internal memory.
The Asus VivoTab Smart's battery life is very similar to Microsoft Surface 2's battery duration.
Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Asus VivoTab Smart, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Asus VivoTab Smart. If you want to save some money, you can buy the Asus VivoTab Smart, and give up a few specs and features, but you will get the most with your budget.
