The Galaxy Note 8.0 is slightly better than Microsoft Surface 2, with a 69.2 score against 63.4. Galaxy Note 8.0 comes with Android 4.4.2 operating system, and Microsoft Surface 2 comes with Windows RT 8.1 operating system. Even when Galaxy Note 8.0 and the Microsoft Surface 2 were only released with a couple months difference, Galaxy Note 8.0 is somewhat thinner and lighter.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 has a bit better processing power than Microsoft Surface 2, and although they both have the same RAM amount and 4 cpu cores, the Galaxy Note 8.0 also has a graphics co-processor. The Microsoft Surface 2 counts with a little sharper screen than Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, because it has a way better 1080 x 1920px resolution, a little higher screen pixels density and a really bigger screen.
The Microsoft Surface 2 counts with a much bigger memory for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage capacity. Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 counts with a very superior battery performance than Microsoft Surface 2.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 shoots much better videos and photos than Microsoft Surface 2. Both have a back facing camera with a 5 megapixels, the same (HD) video quality and the same video frame rates.
Despite of being the best tablet of the ones in this comparison, the Galaxy Note 8.0 is also by far the cheapest.
