Comparison review

The Microsoft Surface 2 is just a bit better than the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), having a 63.4 score against 61.4. Microsoft Surface 2's construction is newer and just a bit thinner than the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)'s, but it's also heavier. Microsoft Surface 2 comes with Windows RT 8.1 OS, while Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) works with Android 4.1 OS.

Microsoft Surface 2 counts with a better display than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has a higher pixel number in each inch of display, a much higher 1080 x 1920 resolution and a quite bigger screen. Microsoft Surface 2 features a superior CPU than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has a larger amount of RAM and a greater number of cores (and also faster).

The Microsoft Surface 2 features a much bigger memory for games and applications than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) counts with a much better battery lifetime than Microsoft Surface 2. Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has just a bit better camera than Microsoft Surface 2, although it has a much lower 3 megapixels resolution camera and a lot lower (HD) video definition.

Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1). If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), and give up a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
