Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has a score of 72.2, which is just a bit better than iPad 3's 71.1 overall score. The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a notably newer and a little thinner tablet device than the iPad 3, but it's somewhat heavier. The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 counts with Windows 8.1 Pro operating system, while iPad 3 comes with iOS 6.1 operating system.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has a bit better processing power than iPad 3, and although they both have 2 cpu cores, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 also has a greater amount of RAM. The iPad 3 features a slightly better screen than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, because although it has a little smaller display, it also counts with a quite better 1536 x 2048 resolution and a just a little more pixels per screen inch.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 counts with a much better memory to store more games and applications than iPad 3, because it has more internal memory. The Apple iPad 3 has a superior battery lifetime than Microsoft Surface Pro 3. The iPad 3 features a greater camera than Microsoft Surface Pro 3. They have the same video quality, the same video frame rate and a camera with a 5 megapixels resolution.
Although Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Apple iPad 3, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Apple iPad 3. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the Apple iPad 3, letting go a couple features and specifications.
