The Apple iPad mini 4 is a newer tablet device, and it's also thinner and way lighter than Microsoft Surface Pro 3. The Apple iPad mini 4 works with iOS 9.x OS, while Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has Windows 8.1 Pro OS.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has a bit better processing unit than iPad mini 4, because it has a greater amount of RAM memory and a larger number of cores.
