These tablets use Android OS (Operating System), but the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has a more recent 4.4.4 version and Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1 has Android 3.2, giving some extra features and performance optimizations. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z design is newer, somewhat lighter and noticeably thinner than the Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z features a little faster processor than Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1, because although it has a worse graphics processor, it also counts with 2 more CPU cores and a higher amount of RAM. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z counts with a much better looking screen than Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1, and although they both have a same size display, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z also has a much higher pixels density and a much better resolution of 1200 x 1920px.

Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1 features just a bit bigger storage to install applications and games than Sony Xperia Tablet Z, because although it has no SD card slot, it also counts with more internal storage. The Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1 counts with a better camera than Xperia Tablet Z, although it has a back-facing camera with lot less mega-pixels resolution and a way lower video quality.

Although Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy Sony Xperia Tablet Z, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Motorola Droid XYBoard 10.1, letting go a couple specs and features.
