Amazon Fire HDX 8.9's construction is way newer, noticeably lighter and noticeably thinner than the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1). These devices include Android OS (operating system), but the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a more recent 4.4 version while Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has Android 4.1 version.
