Comparison review

Microsoft Surface 2 is a little bit better than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), getting a score of 63.4 against 61.4. The Microsoft Surface 2 has Windows RT 8.1 OS, while Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) works with Android 4.1 OS. The Microsoft Surface 2 body is newer and a bit thinner than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)'s, but it is heavier.

The Microsoft Surface 2 has a greater hardware performance than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has a greater amount of RAM memory and a higher number of cores. The Microsoft Surface 2 counts with a more vivid screen than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has a bit bigger screen, a lot better 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and a higher pixel amount per display inch.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) takes a little bit better photographs and videos than Microsoft Surface 2, although it has a back camera with much less mega pixels resolution and a way worse 1280x720 video resolution. The Microsoft Surface 2 features much more memory capacity for applications and games than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because although it has no SD card slot, it also counts with 56 GB more internal memory.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) counts with a very superior battery lifetime than Microsoft Surface 2.

Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1). If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), letting go a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most with your savings.
