The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is just a bit better than the Xperia Tablet S, getting a 61.4 score against 58.9. Both tablets in our current comparison include Android OS (operating system), but Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has the older 4.1 version while Xperia Tablet S has Android 4.1.1. Even though Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) and Xperia Tablet S were released only a few months apart, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) body is a little bit heavier but somewhat thinner than Xperia Tablet S.
Xperia Tablet S features a quite superior performance than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), and although they both have the same RAM amount, the Xperia Tablet S also has a greater number of faster cores and a GPU. Sony Xperia Tablet S counts with just a bit better display than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because although it has a little smaller screen, and they both have an equal resolution of 800 x 1280, the Sony Xperia Tablet S also counts with a little bit greater display pixel density.
The Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) takes slightly better videos and photos than Sony Xperia Tablet S, although it has a way less MP resolution back-facing camera. Xperia Tablet S features a much greater storage to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has 56 GB more internal memory capacity and an external memory slot that holds a maximum of 128 GB.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) counts with a really longer battery lifetime than Xperia Tablet S.
Although Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Sony Xperia Tablet S, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Sony Xperia Tablet S. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can buy Sony Xperia Tablet S, giving up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most with your savings.
