Both devices in this review have Android operating system, but Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a more recent 4.2.2 version and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) LTE has Android 4.1 version, so it counts with some nice extra features. Although the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is a little bit heavier than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) LTE, it's noticeably thinner and also newer.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a more powerful CPU than Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) LTE, because it has 1 GB more RAM memory, a much better graphics co-processor working at 450 MHz and more CPU cores. The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 features a much better looking screen than Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) LTE, because it has a bigger display, a lot greater pixel density and a way higher 1600 x 2560 resolution.
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 takes a bit better videos and photos than Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) LTE, because it has a camera in the back with a lot higher 8 megapixels resolution. The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has much more memory for applications and games than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) LTE, because although it has no SD extension slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal memory.
