Samsung Ativ Tab is much better than Galaxy Tab 8.9, with a overall score of 66.7 against 58.1. Samsung Ativ Tab's design is newer, but a little thicker and incredibly heavier than the Galaxy Tab 8.9. The Samsung Ativ Tab has Windows RT operating system, and Galaxy Tab 8.9 works with Android 3.0 operating system.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a slightly better looking screen than Samsung Ativ Tab, because although it has a little lower 800 x 1280 resolution and a quite smaller screen, it also counts with a just a little better pixel density. The Samsung Ativ Tab features a better CPU than Galaxy Tab 8.9, and although they both have a Dual-Core processing unit, the Samsung Ativ Tab also has an extra graphics processing unit.
The Samsung Ativ Tab features a much bigger memory capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Galaxy Tab 8.9, and although they both have the same internal memory, the Samsung Ativ Tab also has a slot for SD memory cards that supports up to 64 GB. The Samsung Ativ Tab counts with a very superior battery performance than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a 37 percent greater battery capacity.
Samsung Ativ Tab captures clearer photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, and although they both have the same 1280x720 (HD) video quality and the same video frame rate, the Samsung Ativ Tab also has a lot more MP back facing camera.
Although Samsung Ativ Tab is a better device, it costs a lot more than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. If you prefer to save some money, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, giving up a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most out of your savings.
