The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has an overall score of 58.1, which is a little bit better than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9's 58.1 score. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a somewhat heavier portable tablet than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, but both of them are equally thin. These devices use Android OS (operating system), but the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has 4.0.4 version and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has Android 3.0.
Galaxy Tab 10.1's CPU is just as good as the Galaxy Tab 8.9 one, they have the same number of cores. Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a little bit better screen than Galaxy Tab 10.1, because although it has a little smaller screen, and they both have the same resolution of 800 x 1280, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 also counts with a just a little greater pixels density.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a superior memory for applications and games than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, because it has 32 GB more internal memory capacity. Galaxy Tab 10.1 features just a bit longer battery life than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a 13% more battery capacity. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 features a superior camera than Galaxy Tab 8.9, and although they both have the same resolution back facing camera, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 also has a lot higher 1920x1080 video quality.
Although Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Galaxy Tab 8.9, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy Tab 8.9. So if you need that extra features, you can buy Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and get the Galaxy Tab 8.9, letting go some specifications.
