The Galaxy Tab Active Pro is a incredibly newer tablet than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, although it's somewhat thicker and heavier. Both tablets in this comparison use Android OS, but Galaxy Tab Active Pro has a newer 9.0 Pie version and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has Android 3.0, so it provides you a couple nice extra features and enhanced performance.
