Both tablets in this review work with Android operating system, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has a more recent 7.1 Nougat version while Galaxy Tab 8.9 has Android 3.0 version. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is a way newer tablet, and it is also somewhat thinner and extremely lighter than the Galaxy Tab 8.9.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a much better display than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0, because it has a little more pixels per inch in the screen, a little bit larger screen and a slightly higher 800 x 1280 resolution. Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a greater memory capacity to store more apps and games than Galaxy Tab A 8.0, because although it has no external memory slot, it also counts with 48 GB more internal memory.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 counts with a bit more powerful processor than Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a greater number of cores.
