Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is much better than the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), getting a general score of 82.4 against 68.3. The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is an older and noticeably heavier portable tablet than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), but Microsoft was able to build it just a bit thinner anyway. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has Windows 10 Pro operating system, and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) works with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.

The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a little faster CPU than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), because although it has an inferior number of cores (although faster), it also counts with 14 GB more RAM memory. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a sharper display than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), because it has a much higher resolution of 2736 x 1824px, more pixels per display inch and a way larger screen.

The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a much bigger memory capacity to store more games and applications than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with 968 GB more internal storage capacity. Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) features a much better battery duration than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017).
