Comparison review

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a little bit better than the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), having a 68.5 score against 68.3. Both tablets in this review include Android OS (operating system), but Sony Xperia Tablet Z has an older 4.4.4 version and Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) has Android 8.1 Oreo. Although Sony Xperia Tablet Z is much older and extremely heavier than the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), it's body is still notably thinner.

Xperia Tablet Z features a much better looking screen than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), because it has a much higher 1200 x 1920 resolution, a larger display and a quite higher display pixel density. Xperia Tablet Z features just a little better hardware performance than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), and although they both have 2 GB of RAM memory and the same number of cores, the Xperia Tablet Z also has a graphics co-processor.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) captures greater photographs and videos than Sony Xperia Tablet Z, although it has a camera in the back with a lot lower resolution and a worse (Full HD) video definition. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) has a way bigger memory for games and applications than Sony Xperia Tablet Z, and although they both have exactly the same internal storage capacity, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) also has a slot for an SD memory card that holds up to 400 GB.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z features greater battery duration than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), because it has a 20 percent bigger battery size.

Although Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018). If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can get the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018), and give up a couple features, but you'll get the most with your savings.
