Both tablets in this comparison review have Android OS (operating system), but the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has newer 7.1 Nougat version while Asus Fonepad 7 has Android 5.0 version, so it offers a couple additional features and optimized performance. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is a noticeably thinner but extremely heavier tablet device than Asus Fonepad 7.
The Asus Fonepad 7 features a bit superior CPU than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and although they both have 4 CPU cores, the Asus Fonepad 7 also has a 64-bits CPU and more RAM. The Asus Fonepad 7 features a lot better screen than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a really smaller display, it also counts with a way greater quantity of pixels per inch of display and a little bit higher resolution of 1280 x 800.
The Asus Fonepad 7 and Galaxy Tab A 9.7 feature incredibly similar cameras, and although the Asus Fonepad 7 has a lot higher (Full HD) video resolution, they both have the same resolution camera in the back. Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has a little bit more storage to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Asus Fonepad 7, and although they both have the same 16 GB internal storage, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 also has an external SD slot that allows up to 128 GB.
The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has a really longer battery life than Asus Fonepad 7.
Although Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is a better device, it is more expensive than the Asus Fonepad 7, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Asus Fonepad 7. If you want to save some dollars, you can get the Asus Fonepad 7, letting go a couple features, but you will get the most out of your budget.
